I’ve been passing my email silently through Gmail for the last few months–you know, for the archiving and spam-filtering they offer. I’ve had my address (No I WON’T tell you what it is! Screw you, spam harvesters!) silently forward to a gmail address, which I’ve harvested via POP with Thunderbird. That’s worked okay, but I have to remember to close T-bird before I leave the office if I want to use Gmail’s (exellent!) slim-HTML interface on my Treo….
Well, I finally had it. For the last couple days, I haven’t opened Thunderbird at all. I’ve dealt with my email directly in Gmail, and I’ve got to tell you… I’m convinced. The way it deals with “conversations” is brilliant. It’s not costing me anything to archive all my email there (except arguably my privacy, ok, ok), and the interface is about the smartest I’ve ever used.
There I go! Another shakey step into being a Web2.0 citizen!
